Supporters of Anna Protest PM House in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH : The volunteers of AAWAAZ, a city based NGO staged protests, Dharna outside the Prime Minister residence, house.no. 727, sec-11 following a call given by Anna hazare. The volunteers gathered at sec-18/7 chowk and headed towards PM’s residence raising anti-corruption slogans and chanting patriotic songs in support of anti-graft movement. They were disappointed o see high police presence outside PM’s residence. They decided to sit outside the house to stage the protest. The residents of the tricity also joined them in mass number. Gaurav Goel and BS Makkar advocates by profession and active members of AAWAAZ say people are feeling frustrated with the system and have taken to streets and roads and made it a mass movement. Govt should implement Janlok pal bill as soon as possible as it is not possible now to escape from the angst of people. We will stand firm with Annaji as long as our demands are not met with. Kuldeep Mussa, and Ram Kumar Mittal say we are protesting peacefully to let govt hear our voice and meet our grievances. PM should act wisely and should not be puppet in the hands of few ministers. It is the right time that govt should reach on a consensus with the Anna team to resolve the issue.
Rahul and Ashutosh Gupta say that people need Janlok pal Bill and not Jokepal Bill.Govt should implement such a bill which would help in putting end to corruption which has been robbing the peace and growth of the society. The movement has spread nationwide and govt has completely shaken and is in confused state of mind say they.

65th Independence day celebrated in Country

Chandigarh, Aug 15 : Punjab, Haryana and their joint capital Chandigarh today celebrated Independence day amidst unprecedented security arrangements across the region. Patriotic fervour and gaiety marked the occasion across the two states and UT Chandigarh as flag hoisting ceremonies were held at district headquarters, educational institutes and other places. The celebrations passed off peacefully as no untoward incident was reported from any part of the region, officials said here.Freedom fighters, who played a vital role in the struggle for independence, were remembered on the occasion.Amid overcast conditions, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator, Shivraj Patil unfurled the tricolour at a function held here, while Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal unfurled the tricolour at a state-level function at Amritsar, where heavy rains marred the event.Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister and ruling Shiromani Akali Dal President, Sukhbir Singh Badal unfurled the tricolour at newly created Fazilka district.In Haryana, Governor Jagannath Pahadia unfurled the flag at a function held at Hisar, while Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, unfurled the flag at Bhiwani as Independence Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm in other parts of the state as well.

He is also a member of ICF (Indian Culinary Federation) Rajesh who is working with Municipal Corporation is a willing worker and has been performing the task assigned to him diligently. Ram Raj a gardener with MC. Fire department team led by ML Sharma the team reached at the fire spot at SCO No. 2471-72, Sector- 22-C on July 8, 2011 and prevented the fire. Janhavi Malhotra a student of MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, is being awarded for her contribution in art and culture. At the age of fourteen she compiled a collection of her poems, ‘Aloft on Wings of Grit’. Bheem Sain Malhotra an assistant professor in art from Chandigarh College of Architecture is being awarded for his contribution in the field of art. Rinku Kalia is credited with bringing Chandigarh on the musical map of the world by being the proud winner of Zee TV's highest-rated musical show "Sa Re Ga Ma" is currently working as Assistant Professor in Sociology, DAV College, Sector 10. Parmdeep Singh President of Government Employees Resident Welfare Association, Sector 22-D gets the award for social service. Isha Kakaria has gets the award for social service. Through the various stages of the growth of NGO Tammana, she has been appreciated time and again and recognized for her dynamism, vision and leadership. Satish Narula a renowned horticulturist will be awarded for his contribution in social service. He is also the Consultant Advisor, Tourism Projects on Theme Gardens, Chandigarh Administration. Baby Vidushi Rawat is being awarded in the field of sports. She is a student of Class IV of Banyan Tree School, Sector 48-B Chandigarh. She is a national player of Roller Skating and till date she got more than 50 medals in various State and National Competition.
