CHD Police arrest two prime accused in Khushpreet case

CHANDIGARH : Two people have been arrested in connection with the abduction and murder of 5 year old Chandigarh boy Khushpreet, which had left the city shocked. All 2 of them have reportedly confessed to their crime. Sukhdev Singh and his brother Gurwinder Singh and their labourer, all residents of burail, had hatched the plan, police said. The duo allegedly were deep in debt, and when they saw Khushpreet passing by in the alley, they kidnapped him and kept him locked in a shop in burail.
The Chandigarh Police arrested two prime accused in the Khushpreet kidnapping and murder case. Sukhdev Singh and his brother Gurwinder Singh have been arrested while their laborer Nand Kishore is still at large.
Sukhdev Singh was earlier arrested in 2001 for his alleged involvement in a murder case. The police said that Sukhdev was in a heavy debt and in order to handle his economical crunch, he decided to kidnap Khushpreet. He shared his plan with Gurwinder and took Nand Kishore into confidence. Soon after, they started keeping a tab on Khushpreet and his father Lakhbir Singh, who owned a shop in Burail. Sukhdev knew Lakhbir pretty well, as they were neighbors. After kidnapping Khuspreet on the fateful day of Dec 21, 2010, they sedated him and kept him at a house in Burail for at least 10-12 days. However, one day, Khushpreet saw Sukhdev’s face and recognized him. Leaving with no choice, the kidnappers again sedated him and killed him. His body was later dumped in a gunny bag in Mohali. The arrested duo have been sent to 8 days police remand
