CHANDIGARH: The family members of the kidnapped boy, Khushpreet Singh, have started losing patience. For the first time since their child was abducted, they held a protest march from Burail to Sector-17 piazza on Sunday, with the boy's father threatening to commit suicide if police did not find Khushpreet.
More than hundred people, family members, distant relatives, residents of Burail and activists of some welfare societies, were part of the march. Anandpur Sahib MP Ravneet Singh Bittu also jointed hands with the aggrieved family and prayed for the wellness of the child. "I was in Sector 17 for a personal reason. Moved by the family's plight, I decided to lend my support to them, he added.
Avjit Singh, a distant relative of the family, said it had been six days since the kidnapping but police had done nothing. We don't where our boy is and in what state, he said.
Bikramjit Singh, an office-bearer of a social society, said, Chandigarh police is considered the best force in the country but this case has exposed its inefficiency.
Senior officials should be embarrassed about the lack of action, he added.
The boy's father said none of the cops who had visited their house on Sunday assured that Khushi would return home safe. DSP (south) Vijay Kumar and SHO of police station-34 visited the house of the boy, along with area councillor Vijay Rana.
