Lets Permote Cycling in City Beautiful

CHANDIGARH : UT Home Secretary Sh. Ram Niwas flagged off the Avon BIG Greenathon. He participated in the Greenathon by riding his own bicycle. Giving a message of Green and Clean environment, he was leading the BIG Greenathon along with Sports Icon Pargat Singh, ADC PS Shergill and RJ Anubhav.. Hundreds of city residents were riding their cycle to work on Monday morning. AVON BIG GREENATHON was flagged off from Rock Garden at 8:45 am today morning by Sh. Ram Niwas. Riding on their bicycles around 400 residents participated in the AVON BIG Greenathon. The participants were riding their cycles at Sukhna lake road and later moved on to their work places on cycles. RJ Anubhav who was leading the Greenathon, traveled on the bicycle to BIG FM studios situated at Panchkula. One selected resident from city will be given one AVON JOCKEY bicycle! Thousands of citizens supported the cause by sending in text messages (sms).
It was a foggy Monday morning when RJ Anubhav started his journey from Rock garden along with hundreds of office and school going citizens. The journey moved towards Sukhna Lake and soon everyone parted way towards their work places, schools and other destinations. India’s largest private radio FM network 92.7 BIG FM and AVON Cycles have crafted the activity with a message of green and clean environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhdeep Sohal, Station Head, BIG FM said, “We are absolutely delighted to see the participation of the city. We thank Tricity for showing such amazing enthusiasm and participation. BIG FM has always worked towards making life better, the AVON BIG Greenathon was crafted with an aim to spread a message of greener, cleaner and healthier tomorrow. It’s an effort to make this planet a better place to live. Hundreds of working people, school children, NCC cadets and other city residents have participated in the Greenathon and have moved to their workplaces on cycles. We are happy to share the common platform with the residents from various parts of the city.”
Speaking after the successful launch of the Avon Big Greenathon, MD Avon Cycles Onkar Singh Pahwa, said “It has been an overwhelming experience for me. Seeing hundreds of people coming together for this event was a delight. I thank every one who joined hands towards this cause and I hope that we all keep the promise of riding a bicycle to work at least once a week. Our small step has been made into a giant leap by the enthusiasm of the participants; I wish them all the luck and congratulate them once again”.
